A research lab

Blast Radius Labs is small. We take something we do not understand, build it from nothing, measure what it does, and write down what broke.

Blast radius is how far a failure reaches. We named the lab after the bad part, because the bad part is where the information is. Containment is a strong word, and the interesting engineering is what you do when it does not hold.

How the work goes

Build it to understand it

Nothing is taken on trust. A thing gets built, run and measured before it gets a name attached. The figure it draws is the test.

No shortcut before the long way

No library until we have written what it replaces. The shortcut stays available. Taking it first only means never seeing the mechanism it hides.

Failure is the subject

Most of what we learn turns up when something does not hold. The breakage gets named and kept in the record, rather than tidied out of it.
